hi everyone.

My name is courtney and I have just been diagnosed w Dcis "low grade nuclei" not sure what that means on my pathology report, I have yet to meet my surgeon. I'm 26 years old and 38 weeks pregnant.

I am very scared. apt with surgeon is wednesday, she wants to induce my labor to get an MRI. Already did ultrasound and mammo. My tumor is 2cm. Right next to nipple. Surgeon said on the phone it is "likely" they'll have to take the nipple. I will do whatever it takes to get this out but I having a hard time accepting losing so much of myself at a young age. I am also so concerned for my new baby and 3 year old. Any support would be appreciated! Thank you ladies

Courtney, I'm not sure where you live, but in your situation, I would definitely get a second opinion from an National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center. Here is a list of these institutions that offer the best treatment options in the country in my book....

Our situations were very different, but I've talked to literally thousands of breast cancer patients. Where you get treated makes a huge difference. I learned this from my own diagnosis, my mom's diagnosis, and my sister's diagnosis as well.

Sending you hope, encouragement and strength!!!

Am so sorry you have to deal with this which surely detracts from being able to focus on the excitement of your new baby's arrival. DCIS with low grade is the best pathology you can get at this point. As upsetting as the diagnosis is, truly, BC is very treatable. You will be fine but the getting there may be bumpy. Hugs Pam
