Optic Nerve Damage + ommaya

Hi,

My mom got an ommaya placed and started doing methotrexate twice a week. Suddenly the doctor saw inflammation around the ommaya and they removed it. They thought it was a staph infection but it wasnt. Ever since they ommaya and the chemo directly to the head and not the lumbar she lost half her vision and says everything is dark.

We got her eye sight looked at and they said it was optical nerve damage but no clear reason on why. Im furious because no-ones giving me any reason. I just keep getting shrugs of "we dont know" from her oncologist, radiologist, the neurologist who placed the ommaya (who I sort of want to blame)

She is now doing lumbar punctures once a week - since the ommaya was removed.

I feel so much guilt because she can barley see and a lot of her independence is now gone. Any suggestions - we live in Los Angeles.
