Seatbelts?

I was hoping someone might have suggestions.

I haven't even begun treatment. I have Paget's disease of the nipple, and sometimes it is inflamed, irritated, painful, itchy, bleeding, etc. And sometimes it feels okay. But lately I'm having more trouble with my car seatbelt. It runs almost right across my breast (I'm short) and I wondered if anyone has found a good way to deal with it? Currently I usually hold it off my body with my right hand and drive with my left, but it was hoping for a better suggestion.

My surgeons office gave me a small pillow to use after surgery. It is 4 inches wide by 8 inches long, made from fleece and softly stuffed. I put that under the seatbelt where it crosses my chest, it helps tons! It is small enough that it doesn't interfere with driving. Hope you can find something similar

You can get a seat belt clip that holds the shoulder belt to the side. They are available from the usual online shopping place or at some auto parts stores.

    thanks everyone.

I have used a clip before, but it didn't seem to hit me right. I haven't tried in this vehicle - I'll look into that. Actually I have an improvised clip on it that just keeps the locking mechanism from sliding too far. It may be that it's a deep seat and the shoulder holder track just does not set in a good place fir me.

I'll see if I can find a pillow. I've never tried that, so maybe it will work.

    Thanks so much, everyone!

oh, and lol I'm sure I have clothes pins in the garage. I was hanging out my laundry to dry a few years ago when I lived in the country. In fact, I should have really nice clothes pins, since I bought the heavy duty ones. I'll probably give them a try first. :)

Perhaps some kind of specialized seatbelt is available. But I guess that using a pillow or moving belt slightly aside is easier.

My BS’ NP gave me a P3 ("protective pillow purse") made by a volunteer group called Protect the Girls. (Sadly, they don’t have a website or FB page). It is the size of a small throw pillow with an adjustable (velcro) to sling over the shoulder and wear between breast and arm, cushioning the SNB site. In the car, you can put it on the console or armrest to cushion your arm on the surgical side. It also has a pocket containing a much smaller cushion that slips between the shoulder belt and your breast.

    thank you.

It seems a little pillow with some kind of strap to attach it to the seatbelt strap might be best. I probably have some scrap material lying around I can use to make one. Or maybe I can go find some fabric I REALLY like.

I wonder if it's weird. I'm not one for shopping, but since I found out about the diagnosis, I've done some little things that make me happy. My reading glasses broke, and instead of buying the same cheap wire framed ones, I spent about $2 more and got some bright colored frames. Yes, they are pink, actually, but I wanted the purple ones - they just didn't have them in the strength I needed. I also got a baby fern, some scented oils for the diffuser, and a coloring book (of all things - I know it's a trend, but my daughter took it up and says she likes it, so I thought I would too).

Either way, scraps or shopping, I think maybe an attached pillow is the thing. It was better for a few days (still need the seatbelt off my breast) but it's becoming bad again.

    Thanks again.
