I have a mammogram scheduled tomorrow because of a hard, thick lumpy area spanning a couple inches that I brought to my gyns attn and then she felt as well. Yesterday, the place I'm getting my mammogram called and all they asked was if this was going to be my first one. I told them it was. I didn't think to ask anything at the time because I was at the gym and tired and out of breath at the time. Why do you think they called specifically to ask only that though? Im only 27 with no previous breast issues so never had real life experience with any of this testing before.

They were going to see if you had old films for comparison that they could order from another facility.

Since there will be nothing to compare to to see if whatever is there has been stable, if it does not clearly look benign, don't be surprised if a biopsy is ordered. First mammograms/ultrasounds sometimes garner more investigation. Hopefully the imaging will show that it isn't concerning. Just remember that even if they do want to biopsy it is more that they are proving it to be benign, rather than ruling in cancer. Better than 80% of biopsies are benign because they do them on anything that has even a 3% chance of being cancer
