Vagifem, Estrace Cream and Breast Tenderness
I used Vagifem for a month and was experienced the SE of breast tenderness, but only in the breast that had the lumpectomy. I thought that the Vagifem was supposed to stay local, but it seems that it caused the SE in the breast.
Now I have the mother of all atrophy, constant merciless pain down there. Hurts to walk or even stand. A dr. prescribed Estrace cream, 0.5 g twice per week. Methinks that this is not enough to matter. But back to the of breast tenderness--has anyone experienced this and what did your dr. say? Stop the medication or ignore it? My quality of life is low from the atrophy.

Hey corky, I don't know about breast pain, but I did have really bad atrophy after chemo. It's now been 5 months since then and during this time I have used a regular moisturiser (like Replens) 3 or 4 times a week consistently. I also bought a dilator and did kegs exercises daily. If problems persist, then see a gyn.

Thanks Lottemarine. I do most of those things but they don't work for me. I will see a specialist in three weeks and am counting the days. I am concerned that if he wants to try estrogen I'll have tenderness again. It worries me since the last time it only bothered the lumpectomy side. I'll let the board know what he says.

I've tried both the Vagifem and Estrace cream. I did not have breast tenderness with either one of them. And I found that both of them helped with lubrication but initial entry still could be painful. I found the Estrace so messy, and they both gave me a side effect of increased gas pains. Now I mostly use coconut oil, which I transferred into a little container that I keep at bedside. It's also very.healing.

Thanks. Turns out that the Estrace cream gave me headaches. The specialist told me to increase my fibromyalgia meds and use coconut oil on the outside but nothing for the inside. No improvement after two weeks. He may consider Vagifem in the future. I was not impressed with him at all. His assistant, a resident, couldn't do math. I had to do it for her. She sent a prescription for a med that we'd already agreed I wouldn't take. And then the doctor's office denied that it was sent since that didn't have it in their record. They insisted that the pharmacy made a mistake.
And this was from a major university's specialty clinic!
