Anyone ever see Elevated CA 27/29 with a respiratory infection?

I went on a short vacation involving air travel 2 weeks ago. I forgot to shut the air vent and allowed the air vent to blow on me. 2 days later I got a severe sore throat, head cold and respiratory infection. Last week, I saw my oncologist who did blood work and gave me my Prolia shot. My CA 27/29 came back elevated at 41 where previous result was 23. I still have cough and some nasal discharge. I'll repeat the lab test next week but wonder if anyone else has encountered this situation. I'm hoping the respiratory infection was the cause. I usually recover quicker but this was a nasty head cold. My other labs appear within normal range for what they are worth.... Thanks!

Hi, CP418. I'm sorry no one has been along who has lots of knowledge about your question. I know my CA 27.29 went up to 45 when I was doing chemo, and my MO said not to worry--the test is affected by many conditions in the body, such as illness and surgery.

    Waiting is hard. Gentle hugs.

My CA 27.29 was at 41 right after I finished chemo. My MO told me that illness and inflammation can cause a jump in this number. It was a stressful three weeks until I repeated my labs. Thankfully they dropped into the normal range.

Thank you for your replies. I delayed my repeat lab for another week to get rid of this respiratory infection. I took some decongestion medication today again because I still had sinus mucus issues. I recall last year when I was dx with Lyme that all my liver enzymes nearly tripled. After treatment with Doxycycline within a couple of weeks they all returned to normal range. Our breast cance hx makes it so difficult for us to simply have an illness and treat without stressing over it.
