edited June 2016 in Benign Breast Conditions

Hi all,

This is my first post, not really sure where to begin but I'll keep it short. A lump was found in my left breast at my annual appt in March. A mammogram showed a 4.7cm mass. Referred to a breast surgeon who said it's nothing. Just a benign lipoma. The next week, she sends me to have a 3D ultrasound. The tech performs the test, then the radiologist calls me back to the office to repeat the test. Says pretty sure it's a benign hamartoma. I have a second surgeon that says, no it's Pash. Still no biopsy. 3 different DX, and me sitting in limbo. I have another bilateral mammo and 3D sono in August to check for growth. Is this a normal experience? Meanwhile, I have a large tumor, I'm adopted and have zero access to my medical history and I fear that I'm going to miss something.Any advise is appreciated

    Hi Kylie-

How very frustrating! The doctors seem to agree that you're dealing with a benign mass, which is the good news. But we totally understand your concern over not knowing exactly what, and without your medical history to pull from, that can be very scary. Have you asked if a biopsy is possible? At least for peace of mind. You can always get another opinion as well, we always encourage members to seek a second (or sometimes third) opinion if you feel like you need more definitive answers.
