Waiting for ultrasound results...frustrated and scared

I had a second mammogram and an ultrasound done on my left breast on Monday, the 13th. I still haven't heard anything about the results and I'm so worried and very frustrated. I talked to three different people yesterday trying to find out what was going on. The most any of them could tell me was that the doctor had seen my results but hadn't signed off on them being released to me. Why wouldn't she do that? One of the ladies I talked to told me she would send a note to the doctor to let her know I had called and was worried, but I still haven't heard anything. I'm trying not to panic, but I can't think of any good reason that my doctor would keep me from seeing the results. Talk me down, please. I can't concentrate on anything or even eat today.

I'm so sorry for the anxiety and the stress. Waiting is never easy. Unfortunately, a doctor has many patients and various levels of immediacy they need to deal with. You can read into the wait so many different ways, but the news will come to you and a day or 3 won't alter the information. It could just be that they are having an influx of tough cases and yours may have been pushed further down. I hope you hear soon. When I waited for my results, it took longer than they indicated but I would rather they be sure and accurate than rush through something just to get me an answer. Also, this is the time of year people and families go on vacation, so they may simply be short staffed.
