Evista vs arimidex

hello all, so I have been on Arimidex for 4 years, tolerate it pretty well. I have my bone pains and body aches but doable. The problem is that I am losing bone mass from this dreadful drug. I have osteoporosis in my lower back and I'm only 45 years old. So my Onc wants me to switch to Evista because it builds bone mass and still protects. Now, I have tried Tamoxifen 2x in the past, I can't tolerate it at all. I have had a hysterectomy and mastectomy with rebuild. My question is who here is on Evista and how are the SE, is it worth it's? And is it safe? I know it runs kind of the same as Tamoxifen but does not carry the CYP ingredient. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Otherwise my only other option is to stay on arimidex and begin taking reclast or another type of bone drug. Thank you.

Evista is in no way similar to tamoxifen and is, I believe, much better tolerated than Arimidex.

Thanks Mellissadallas, is that in a good way? Meaning Evista is a good option? Tamoxifen is tuff to take and Arimedex is killing my bones..

I wish I could take it for a preventative based on my LCIS, but since I had a pulmonary embolism when I had ovarian cancer the MO won't let me. It carries a small risk of blood clots, similar to the risk of birth control pills

I may be in similar situation as you. I first was on arimidex then bones hurt. I took a 6 week break ok by oncologist then went on evista. So I got vaginal dryness that led to UTI infection in ER. Then I had pain in my bladder. Now I'm back on arimidex and my bones hurt. I feel so frustrated. It hurts to open my hands. I just want to get off everything and get check ups more and blood tests. I don't want to be miserable. I would just say to be careful with possible dryness.

Hello folks, I have been on a evista for almost 4 months, I have achiness and cramping behind both knees and calves with pinching. No swelling no redness. Is this normal? I stopped taking it for 3-4 days with finding relief.
