Are lymph node results conclusive?

Hi all I had a lumpectomy with a sentinel node biopsy last week. Three nodes were removed. I am wondering if the lymph nodes results are conclusive? Do they just sample various parts of the lymph nodes, or do they somehow test the entire thing? If it comes back negative, does that mean that there is no cancer in the lymph nodes with 100% certainty?

Thanks everyone.

I had a biopsy followed by a lumpectomy. The Pathology report after my lumpectomy showed a micromet in my SN. My BS was surprised. Given it was so small my ONC decide it wasn't necessary to remove anymore nodes.

I think the Pathology report will tell all.

    Good luck.

Same as Edwards. I had two with micromets and my BS told me to have radiation with my BMX instead of removing more nodes. I hope it was the right choice.
