Does anyone take Celebrex for joint pain from AI's?
Hi ladies, does anyone out there use Celebrex for joint pain from AI's? I was using Naprosyn but lately it's not helping. My oncologist suggested Vicodin, but I don't want to take narcotics every day. Just curious if it helps TIA!

Terri, I have never been prescribed Celebrex. My DH has horrible joint & disk diease, he has been on it since it first hit the market. I have taken it, seems like a wonder drug to me. Now, I have pain from spine & bone mets. Started with innumerable liver mets. I have not talked to MO about it, I assume she would say it's too hard on your liver.
I will discuss it at some point, seems better than taking pain pills

Terri, I take Celebrex daily although I've had to take a few breaks from it due to bad heartburn. It has helped me a great deal, aside from the esophageal issues which I take Pantiloc for. My MO recently switched me to two 100mg tablets daily instead of one 200mg tablet to see if that would help with the heartburn. It did for a while but always seems to come back, so I take small breaks from the Celebrex and that seems to help. My MO said Celebrex has anti-cancer properties so that's an added benefit. Best of luck to you.

I was prescribed celebrex by my holistic onc because of the anti cancer properties. I gave one to my sister for a bad toothache that nothing was relieving, and she said it took the pain away completely! I think it's worth trying.

I asked my onc what can I take for joint pain that is not a narcotic and he prescribed Cymbalta. Really helps with joint pain and a bit with bone pain too.
Have no experience with Celebrex but know its potential anti-cancer properties come from the fact it is a COX-2 inhibitor.

I also took Celebrex for quite a while and found it very effective. My insurance wouldn't cover it anymore and I had to switch to Meloxicam. Didn't think it worked as well until I didn't take it for 2 days and was so stiff that I could hardly walk!

I have been taking Celebrex for over 6 months now. I have pain in my back and hips due to bone mets. It helps with pain and anti-cancer property is a bonus.

I am not Stage IV (yet) but since I began taking Celebrex in winter 2015 for bursitis caused by a pair of gluteal muscle tears suffered during snow-shoveling, I notice that my joint symptoms on letrozole seem to be much milder than those of most women here on AIs, and it also helps immensely with my letrozole-induced trigger thumb. If it has anti-cancer properties, so much the better. The generic version, celecoxib, is much cheaper (except in Europe, where brand name drugs are very reasonable and in some countries allowed to be sold OTC by a certified pharmacist). As a COX-2 inhibitor it is easier on the gut than other NSAIDs. I have GERD, but since I take Dexilant (a PPI) for it, the Celebrex hasn’t bothered me or caused any gastric bleeds the way Aleve did.
