First off, thanks to all for helping my through my pre-surgery anxiety, questions, etc.

I had the mastectomy ["simple" no lymph nodes -- how any of this can be called simple is beyond me] with immediate reconstruction (TE placement) last Friday, June 3rd.

One long week later just got a good report on the pathology, only DCIS, no invasive, large clear margins...after 2 lumpectomies without margins, very relieved and trying to stay there. I do still find the "no cancer but you need a mastectomy" line hard to take, but I have passed that decision and need to move forward.

Had my first drain removed today. I have felt like a character from Star Trek with long loopy drain tubes (over two feet long!) and these big bulbs at the end...so even pinned to my bra, the loops hang down a good foot. I'm 5'8" but that is still hard to hide.

Had 300cc put into the TE at time of surgery and have first post-surgery fill up in one week...

Starting to bruise and quite surprised that even with the TE and the 300cc at surgery, my chest wall is indented...I thought I would come out flat and then start building from there, but no, indented.

Thanks again for all...
