Rash worry after having a masectomy

Options

I had a masectomy of my left breast six months ago and had the reconstruction at the time, everything has been going well and I had my nipple reconstruction yesterday. My plastic surgeon asked me about a rash I have on my breast that he has also noticed last time I had a checkup with him, I thought both times it was from the heat of the shower as I only noticed it myself when I removed the scar tape to shower (the tape has been on for upto 10 days at a time for the past six months and covers the area with the rash.)

It started worrying me as I'd showered a couple hours before so a heat rash should have gone away so after my operation yesterday I googled it. I'm now worried I have breast cancer again. I have an appointment with my masectomy surgeon on the 1st July and am waiting on a call from her if I need to have an MRI before then as they were worried about an area in my other breast prior to my other surgery. I know I should tell her about the rash but it's evening here, I have towait until tomorrow. Just feeling stressed and wanting some reassurance that others know how I feel. I know you can't give me advise and I need to talk to my surgeon, I just need some coping mechanism.

I understand your concern, but from your description some sort of irritation/reaction from the tape is far more likely than skin mets. Try not to panic, but do ask your doctor to take a look if you are worried.

hopefully your surgeon can take a look. I get horrible rashes from tape ever since my mastectomy... And only on my chest. Other areas, I have no rash with tape. Hoping all is ok
