Hi All

My lovely future sister in law is battling stage 4 breast cancer. It has spread to her vertebrae, lung, liver and brain. Two weeks ago she was in hospital with pneumonia and blood clots. She is now back in hospital because the cancer has eaten through her vertebrae and she now needs replacement disks so she doesn't develop paralysis.

She has tripple negative metastasis and the future doesn't look good for her.

With all of this impact on her body do you know what sort of prognosis does she have. Can she recover from this.

From a worried friend

Caz, I am so sorry. You must know her condition is very serious. Many times people live far longer than what the doctors think is their time, and I certainly hope for her that she is able to be with her loved ones (including you dear friend) for a long time. I hope others can respond soon with more words of encouragement and information. I hope she is able to be comfortable, and return home soon. Please give her a hug from me, and hugs to you too.

Caz, so sorry about your SIL. As Meadow pointed out her condition is very serious. I know that you know typically when cancer metasizes it makes the outcome for recovery much more difficult. Having said that there is always reason for optimism as evidenced by a number of the Stage IV ladies who have been Stage IV for years.

I have a friend who just found out her BC metasized to her hip. Of course she is, and her friends are, devastated. She will be taking chemo pills for the rest of her life. They were unable to do radiation because the lesions are scattered. The chemo pill has been successful in some cases in prolonging life despite the Stage IV DX.

Be there for her. Pray for her and keep the faith.

    Diane
