My mom's biopsy was indeed cancerous for the lump and lymph node after her birads 5. She wasn't told anything more specific but she will be meeting with a medical team of multiple doctors next Wed. She's being seen at UC Hospital in Denver, which is NCI designated.

My poor mom (age 58) has Bipolar I with psychosis as well. She has been doing so well for almost 18 years (1998 was her last hospitalization). This has really upset her balance so to speak and some low level intrusive delusions have been rearing their ugly heads. So far she has been able to think through them rationally, but her current psychiatrist is currently unreachable or not returning her phone calls. I'm hoping the university hospital will also add a psychiatrist to be an integral member of team to keep her stable through what is coming.

I'm doing my best to support her from a distance, as I'm currently living in Hawaii and also 34 weeks pregnant, so I can't fly to Colorado for a while. My dad and other family are with her thankfully. She is not computer literate so you will see me asking questions on her behalf.

I'm sorry that your Mom has tested positive for cancer; it is often difficult to process this news, no matter how mentally robust you think you are. Yes, hopefully, her hospital will incorporate a psychiatrist into her treatment plan. What's with her current psychiatrist, though? Not returning calls isn't very professional. Of course, my son's psychiatrist is difficult to reach, too. (He has depression and anxiety.) However, there aren't many psychiatrists around here who treat teenagers on the spectrum, so we don't have much choice.....

It must be difficult to be so far away from your Mom at this time. Hope and pray that her cancer case is relatively uncomplicated, and that she doesn't suffer much from her treatment plan.
