Bruising and lump 2 weeks after core biopsy normal?

Hi there - I had core biopsies of two 1.4cm lumps a few weeks ago - May 16th. I still have a lot of bruising on the bottom of my breast, whereas the upper part is mostly healing (that yellowish-green color). I met my breast surgeon this past Thursday and she recommended I take Arnica (a homeopathic remedy) several times a day to help heal it. I also have a lump near where they took the biopsy - I know it's probably just still healing but sort of freaks me out. It's definitely healing a bit every day, but at what point should the bruising heal and lump/swelling go away? Should it be taking this long to heal?

Sorry you're dealing with that as well as your diagnosis. I had hematomas after both sets of biopsies and they took ages to go away. I think it was 2 months for the first one tomget back to semi-normal. Arnica cream will probably help, however; it's great for bruising and healing. Good luck with it.

Hi, DistrictGirl--I recall that in my surgical pathology report the pathologist noted that he found bruising and tissue from the biopsy I had had 3 weeks earlier. Some of us just heal more slowly than others. My surgeon hadn't advised doing anything about the slow healing when he saw it two weeks before surgery except to let Mother Nature do her work. P.S., it also took a long time for my surgical hematoma to heal!

arnica is great....taking it in both tablet form, and topically (staying away from any open wounds) was a god send with my former (non-bc) surgeries.... PS supported my choice to do so again this time for my bm

The main artery of my breast was nicked during my core biopsy. I'm a month out and still really bruised and can feel the hematoma. The BS won't do the excisional biopsies until it resolves. The waiting is driving me nuts, quite frankly.

I still had lumps from biopsies in both breasts the day I went in for mastectomy. It's worth keeping an eye on, but not out of the range of normal. If it's getting larger, best to call in.
