6 month follow up and more calcifications found

I went for my 6 month follow up mammogram and MRI yesterday. I have not received the MRI results yet, but the mammogram showed more suspicious calcifications near the lumpectomy site. The doctor will do a biopsy, but I was wondering if anyone knew how often this happens? The doctor said sometimes the surgery itself can cause calcifications to form. I have also been taking Tamoxifen....

Update: my surgeon called with the MRI results and is switching the sterotactic biopsy to an MRI biopsy because enhancement of vascularity was seen at this spot on the MRI. Also want biopsy on left breast for non-mass enhancement that may only be due to hormonal changes? I'm very confused as to what this means exactly and what the chances of both not being benign. any insight?

I also had the same finding of additional suspicious calcifications on my pre radiation mammogram, two and a half months after my lumpectomy which supposedly removed all of the existing calcifications. My surgeon recommend watching for now. I hope you hear good news in your biopsy and MRI results. I will be anxious to hear
