TC Chemo and Heavy Irregular Periods

Hi all, this is my first post here.

I'm 51 and still had regular periods before starting chemo May 9th. My last regular period ended on May 8th, pretty much as soon as I started the steroid pills in prep for chemo. Started another period on May 16th, exactly 1 week after my first TC chemo. Was admitted to hospital for febrile neutropenia on May 17th, stayed for 3 days and my period continued very heavy with lots of clotting until May 22nd. Docs said this was probably due to chemo making my periods irregular. I had two days without period (May 22nd and 23rd) then it started again very heavy on the 24th, and has continued since then. Still lots of heavy flow and clots. Called the oncology office on the 24th and they said don't worry its just from the chemo. I'm in Australia so it's the 27th here, and it's still flowing. I'm starting to feel really weary and very anxious about this "side effect". I did go into have a vaginal sonogram yesterday which was pretty horrific for both the technician and myself, as the blood flow became extremely heavy during the exam. Waiting for those results now and nervous as hell.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience? I'm really beside myself, I thought chemo would send me into menopause, not turn my periods ON full!
