getting smaller breasts with recon
Is this possible? I want to go from a C to a B, because I think it would be less complicated and painful of a procedure (as well as match my body better)…is this true? How many ccs is a B cup?

Hi there. I went from a DD to a C so Im sure its possible. It took me a while to get used to my smaller breasts but now Im fine with them. Good luck and keep us posted....

A quick rule of thumb is that each cup size is 150-200cc's, although docs don't like to say this bc each person is unique. I have implants that are roughly 400cc, my build is average and I am a small C cup (native breasts were D). If you want to go smaller, make sure your PS is on board - some of them like to make this important decision on their own, and the patients typically end up a lot larger than they wanted (my opinion/experience... I think that some PS think - why bother with reconstruction if it isn't big and noticeable). good luck

Bumping this...this is my intention too & I'd love to hear from anyone else who's done this.

I'm attempting to go from a DD to a C as well. I never wanted or needed a larger sized breast, so I'll be very happy with my smaller size. Unfortunately complications following my BMX have slowed down my process and changed my path a little (infection and two additional surgeries), so I'm not yet sure how things are going to turn out. I did end up with both horizontal scars across the breast, and vertical scars underneath the breast (think T) which are more common with breast reductions, so if the appearance of scars is a concern this could be one of the considerations. (Not sure if this is standard practice though - and I'm sure wouldn't be used on someone going from C to B.) Good luck!

I was a DD and had immediate implant reconstruction. 650cc were placed, which on my frame will result in a full C. I'm thrilled with that. PS actually warned me that he would need to go smaller with direct to implant- as skin would be too stretched otherwise.

Hopefloats, if you don't mind me asking.....what's your body size? I was a 36 dd pre-BMX and hope to be a little smaller after implants (I have TEs right now). I currently am filled to 540 cc.

I'm 5'8 and have broad athletic shoulders. I don't know my rib cage circumference but I used to wear a 38/40 band bra. I obviously have lots of swelling still (only 2 weeks out) but I'm definitely smaller... Mostly with elimination of side/wide boob!

I'm watching this thread, too. I am going drastically smaller from a G down to a DD. (I have always wanted a reduction!)

Mystique,
I know what you mean. I went from DDD to C. The reduction is the only positive thing about my cancer. I'm very happy to be smaller.

Forgot to add that my implants are Allergan silicone 410s, style FF, 650 cc.

I had the Diep surgery, went from a DD down to a "B" whoa is it ever a big change to get used to. I almost feel flat but can see I'm not, there is something there. I like it more and more everyday, I feel it took 10 years off my appearance, I am 56.

Hi everyone,
My first post here! I was diagnosed in February. I was having a diagnostic mammo/ultrasound done for a fibrocystic pea sized nodule, and wouldn't you know it, there was cancer right next to the nodule. Thank you Lord for putting it where we could easily find it! 5 biopsies later, I learned I had cancer in the right and atypia in the left. I elected to have a bilateral with TE placement on April 15th.
Right now I am filled to 580 ml. They removed 1200g and 1300g of breast tissue in my surgery. Largest Implant I can get is 800 ml. I am a big girl, 5'8" and a size 18 (down from a 22!). I am concerned that my PS's goal of getting to 850 ml will be impossible. My foobs are shiny since the skin is stretched so tight already and one is taking on an almost bruised appearance. Is there ever a time when you have to stop expansion before you get to your goal? I think I would be happy with the 800's which I hope would give me a full C instead of my previous D/DD. Where I am currently, my body is not balanced. Maybe I am worrying unnecessarily. I saw the PA today for my fill and she was not concerned.
Thank you,
lauri
