Are you going with saline? Or do you have saline?

I spent a lot of time contemplating which I would go with saline or silicone and have decided on saline. I know it won't be as soft but I don't like the idea of silicone traveling through my body if an implant should leak. I am going to ask my doctor about the Ideal Implant which is the newer saline implant. Going half a cup size up if possible so I won't have the wear padding anymore. I was a large A, small B, and I want to be a perfect B.

I had saline implant prior to my bmx and a friend of mine has them bilaterally. She has s big air bubble in one of them. It's very odd. Looks like a nipple only in the wrong place. I never heard of it but I suppose it happens since they fill the implants at surgery . This time I'm doing silicone. They have come a long way and from what I've read, it's extremely rare for the newer ones to leak. I'm sure others have better stats for you and I have seen a few hear with saline who can lend advice

Interesting. Yes I have heard of the newer ones like the gummy bear implant but I am still cautious. One of my surgeons ( who is not pushing either silicone or saline) has had to scrape wandering silicone from around lymph nodes on a few individuals. And even remove them because they had absorbed the silicone.

Maybe I'll be posting here with my experience after I get my saline.

how'd it all work out?? I am wondering about saline vs silicone and am stumped... I've had a whirlwind year of my mom dying a few weeks before I had my mastectomy. I am and have been a bit of an emotional mess. I wonder if my surgeon and I discussed it but wouldn't be surprise if we did and I forgot 😞 My exchange is this Tuesday

I got 700cc saline implants back in 2012; primarily because that's all my PS used.

While I do have a small air bubble on the underside of one breast, it's really only palpable when I'm submerged in my bathtub. I have no rippling at all.

To me, they feel very soft, and DH says they feel very natural to him.

My MO said that while today's silicone implants are much safer that those used in the past, she is still more comfortable with her patients getting saline. Even when you slice a gummy bear silicone in half, and none of the silicone spills out, if you leave it on a surgical towel for a few hours it leaks an oily residue all over. That concerns her, since they don't know what effect that has on the body.

I'd say the best part of having saline implants is that they are always warm (body temperature) unlike the cold sensation reported by those with silicone implants.

HOWEVER, I can't compare the two, as I've never had silicone. I'm sure those ladies that have them are as happy with theirs as I am with mine.

hi, well my surgery is next Tuesday and I'm still going with saline. I am happy with my choice

Going on 10 years with my silicone implants with absolutely no issues. My breast surgeon at Johns Hopkins recommended silicone because they are softer, and I agreed. No regrets with my decision.

I am one week post op! So far so good. Can't tell too much yet though till the swelling goes down. Still happy I chose saline. Will update when I can see what everything looks like without swelling.

I am three weeks post op today. They are warm and actually they are soft. I thought one of the downsides to saline was that they would feel hard? I do have some rippling on the outer sides though. I'm kind of thin so this may have happened even if I had gone with silicone. No rippling where my cleavage is though which is lucky . I will know more as time passes. One side is still more swollen than the other.
