"cannot rule out LM tumor"

I searched for an appropriate thread to talk about this but decided to just start my own. I am so freaked out right now. I was diagnosed with IBC less than a year ago and no treatments have worked. I have had a lot of progression over the last few months, including some internal lymph nodes and bones, many bones. Last week I had some MRIs to evaluate the bones better and as a result of those, this week I will be having MORE MRIs and a spinal tap because on one of the MRIs there is something they can't tell what it is, but see the title of this thread. I am aware that leptomeningeal disease is really bad and has a pretty poor prognosis. I am scared. Has anyone had a scare like this that turned out to be something else? Or, has anyone had LM and had any kind of longer term survival? I want to see my daughter graduate from high school in two years, and right now I am having a hard time believing that will happen.

PurpleMinion, check on the Brain Mets Sisters thread. A poster there is dealing with LM right now and has a ton of great info.

While we can't ease your fears, we can help provide you with education/information as you proceed thru your testing.

sorry you are dealing with this...I don't have any direct experience, but I recall this is what actress Valerie Harper has...she had lung cancer as a primary, not breast cancer, but a great stor

Englishmajor, thank you for mentioning that. I remembered that she had this and looked her up and I was really confused because she was diagnosed with LMD in 2013 so I was looking for her date of death and couldn't find it. Lol, she's STILL ALIVE! So yes, thank you, a tiny bit of hope!!!
