Architectural Abnormalities/Microcalcifications? - so confused!

Hi everyone,

I have been reading these forums for weeks and so appreciate all the info! I am 44 and have had 4 mammograms, each of them requiring me to come back for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound, eventually leading to cyst diagnosis as well as "benign looking microcalcifications".

This year, after ultrasound, the radiologist came into the exam room and did her own imaging after the tech was finished and whispered with the tech about seeing an issue with my "ducts" and told me she wanted to do an MRI due to "architectural abnormalities". She was in a hurry so I didn't get any more info. I am so confused! I just had my MRI yesterday and the tech asked me why I was having it, if I had a lump etc. and all I could say was "I don't know" and felt so stupid for not knowing.

Does anyone know what exactly they "could" be looking for? I know no one can diagnose my situation, but I don't even know what to try to gather info on, I always thought bc started with a lump. And I am also confused as to why an MRI and not go straight to biopsy if there is concern. Started this process 12 weeks ago and am slowly loosing my marbles.

Any info would be so greatly appreciated!

    Hi jjuniper72:

Not sure why you deleted your post. The boards have been slow over the weekends lately. Don't hesitate to post again if you have questions or worries.
