Hi All -

I'm currently undergoing treatment and dealing with the ups and downs. As I tend to be a positive person, I like to focus on the good in life. So even though I'm dealing with cancer and there is all sorts of non-fun things associated with it, there is still a lot of good I'm experiencing. Please feel free to join me daily, weekly, or just when you really need a reminder. The goal is to post three things for which you are grateful. They don't have to be deep or soul searching, just what you are grateful for that day.

Today I'm grateful for the following:

    1. My daughter. First and foremost. She is an amazing young lady who lives 90 minutes away but who will be here in 90 minutes if I need her. She's so supportive, and does research for me to give me things to make me feel better. Her love and support truly make this easier to do with.

    2. My friends. I have had so many people come forward to cook for me, sit with me, go to chemo with me. If life is sucking at the moment and I can't see the bright side, they will sit in the dark with me just so I'm not alone. Yeah, I have some friends who I thought would be there more, but it's okay as they cannot handle it. The ones who are coming through are amazing.

    3. Safeway deliveries!! I've been so tired for the past 3 days and I need things from Safeway - like toilet paper! I'm so happy they deliver and I don't have to hop in the car and be miserably running around the store looking for things. They do it all for me.

    Today I'm grateful for:

    1. The ability to Work From Home - it makes treatment so much easier! And customer calls in pjs rock!

    2. My medical team - I feel really lucky to have the team that I do and the oncology nurses are simply some of the best human beings on the planet.

    3. The friends I have made on these forums. I feel supported not only from my friends locally, but from a world wide (literally) circle of people who are going through the same things and are there for me when I'm down and happy for me when I'm up.

    I am grateful for:

    1) my husband - he's keeping a positive front and trying his best to stay normal while keeping his own health challenges in check.

    2) my mom - at 82, she's my rock. i pray everyday that she remains healthy and strong.

    3) my girls - for trying their very best to understand the current challenges.

i just realized, my strength to fight this is very dependent on how my family is taking this journey with me.

    3 Things for today:

    1. Good days!! Man, after a week of high fatigue, I'm thrilled to feel normal!

    2. Physical activity - it keeps me sane. Even just a walk can make a difference to me.

    3. Netflix and OnDemand that allows me to binge watch a series when getting off the sofa is a struggle.

    Today I'm grateful for:

    1. My animal companions. My dogs make me walk even when I don't want to, and when I'm at my most down, they lay beside me letting me know how much they love me. My cat, will curl up in my arms and purr me to sleep when sleep is hard to find.

    2. The nurses at the fusion center - they are always so bright and cheerful and make the time go more quickly.

    3. Free online courses that I can take to keep my mind as sharp as possible through the chemo fog.

CJ, what a cool thread you created!

    1. I just celebrated (for lack of a better word. I didn't exactly throw a party) my one year cancerversary. I'm grateful that my TMs came back normal.

    2. I'm grateful for my husband. I've been in Cleveland taking with my dad since August, and the hubs has been supportive and patient.

    3. I'm grateful for my dad. He was an extraordinary father my whole life, and it's a privilege to be able to give a little of that back.

P.s. I hope you come back to the booze thread

    Thanks for starting this thread.

    Today I'm grateful for

    1. My DD and boyfriend moving home from Denver. She's only been gone a year but I really miss her.

    2. I'm grateful that the baby chicks were all safe overnight, their first night out of the dog crate, and that they were protected by Boz and Spike the roosters.

    3. I'm grateful for a bit of time off from my farm duties, as we have company there for the next week.

HSant - I've pretty much given up booze for this duration as it just makes me more tired and more dehydrated. As soon as I'm done with chemo, I'll probably start up again. :) I feel like an imposter on the thread. :p CONGRATS on your Cancerverary and on your one year clear! That is exciting

FarmerLucy - thanks for joining!! I get what you mean your DD. Mine is only 90 minutes away and is home frequently, but I wish she were closer. And I love your baby chick story. Sounds like an exciting life on your farm.

    Today's things are:

    1. The California sunshine. It helps me go for a walk even when I don't want to.

    2. A possible understanding to why I was so fatigued last chemo round. My lab tests came back with a high Phosphate level which means I probably have not been drinking enough water. Well, I'll hyperhydrate this round if it means less fatigue.

    3. My LAST AC chemo round. It's on to Taxol but it's nice to cross this one off the list!!

JLB - I have a senior ex-neighbor who is absolutely amazing. I used to call her the little old lady who lives down the street. I miss seeing her daily.

    Happy Friday all!

    Today I'm grateful for:

    1. Fridays! And my daughter coming down to hang out with me for the weekend.

    2. Oncologist nurses with good advice. While looking over my labs with me, my nurse pointed out that I had elevated phosphates which could mean that I need to drink more water. My last round was horrible with fatigue and I started it out with a dinner out with my hubby and nephew and the wine was flowing. Then when the fatigue hit, nothing tasted good especially plain water. I'm all stocked up with natural flavorings for my water, and an app that reminds me to drink a glass every 2 hours. I'm hoping for a much better round four (and final!) of AC.

    3. Again, my friends who are always there for me. I so appreciate it. I'm so blessed.

    Today I'm grateful for:

    1. A neighborhood 5k that got me out and about with my neighbors and enjoying the houses (I live in an old part of town with unique houses).

    2. Pizza - when I want carbs, pizza is there for me. :)

    3. Good days where I feel normal and at the top of my game.

    A. The auto body shop that fixed the damage I caused on my back bumper at no cost, even though they could. I was rear ended a couple of months ago.

    B. Truffle salt. I sprinkle a healthy amount every morning on my soft boiled eggs.

    C. The rain has stopped (for now). I'm grateful for the sun peeking thru the clouds

    1. That first cup of coffee this morning.

    2. My very darling daughter who takes time off work every time I have treatment and keeps me company. I did something right with her (I will always be thankful for her).

    3. My insane exercise DVD collection. It means that I always have a workout that suits my needs, even when it's just a very simple, gentle workout.

    Today:

    1. Uber! I didn't want to deal with the stress of traffic and parking when I was diagnosed last year, and fell in love with Uber. Most recently, I met friends for cocktails on Saturday, and Uber in the suburbs of Cleveland didn't disappoint.

    2. My father. I am so grateful he's still sharp as a tack and has his brilliant analytical mind.

    3. Beautiful sunny weather

    Today I'm thankful for:

    1. Cool mornings on hot days so I can walk the dogs and even my little white guy who gets overheated as he's so low to the ground is happy.

    2. The ability to walk the dogs. It's tiring, but I can usually make it the .8 miles around the block and the dogs are happier when I do it.

    3. CSA's who deliver lovely vegetables right to the door. I have some gorgeous Swiss Chard that I'm planning to cook tonight.

    Today I'm grateful for:

    1. My amazing coworkers - coming back into the office is wonderful every single time.

    2. Working out. When I can work out, I'm happy. Even if it wears me out.

    3. Opportunities... I am on the cusp of making some big changes as this experience has been the motivator. My mom waited her entire life to move to her beach house and then died from liver cancer six months before the scheduled move. I don't want to be that way. I plan to move to my mountain house next Spring, and hope to continue to work for my company until I can figure out what I want to do.
