Mine was found in an excision (lumpectomy?) for ADH last week. Got the final pathology report today, grade 2 ER+ and equivocal for HER2 AND with margins that need cleaning up. My treatment plan is re-excision to get wider margins, followed by 4-6 weeks of radiation then maybe hormonal therapy because of the ER+.

mine was found on mammogram. Was being followed for suspicious calcifications that at first came back benign. My first mammo was at 38 and suspicious calcifications were biopsied then too. No family history. I insisted on mammo at 38. Was good about getting manmosevery year and got diagnosed with very tiny low grade dcis at 46. Dr says I am poster child for getting mammos.

mine was not detected with mammogram. I had decided on BMX due to IDC being found in my left breast (3cm and detected in mammo, ultrasound and core biopsy)... After final surgical pathology from my BMX, they discovered that DCIS was in the "healthy breast". I am relieved they caught it, and that my decision to tackle both beasts at once was what caught it.

my DCIS grade 3 was found in a mammogram when I was almost 49. September 2014.

Had lumpectomy in October 2014 the surgeon could not get clear margins and because of where located had right breast MX with Tissue expander placed November 2014 . Had tram -flap surgery in summer 2015 with nipple reconstruction and left breast reduction and lift in November. My Plastic Surgeon sent the fragments from my reduction to pathology and the pathology report came back with DCIS grade 1 in my left. No MRI or mammogram had picked it up just months before . So in February 2016 I had My left breast removed and currently have tissue expander and will have permanent implant placed in August.

As I will say I am so thankful that I chose mammograms , reconstruction and the procedures I did because who knows when the DCIS would have showed in imaging in my left and it possibly could have been A higher grade or possibly been invasive.

All these stories on here show how important yearly physicals and mammograms are for every women

    Thank you for sharing.

Mammograms absolutely. And 3D has to help. Mine was stage 0, 5 years ago. I went to a different clinic because after my previous biopsy I wanted a digital mammo. My clinic didn't have it yet, the surgeon said it wouldn't make a difference anyway, but after more than half a dozen biopsies and a mother with estrogen-dependent breast cancer, and reading up on it, I was adamant about it.

I saw the old film images and the digital - no comparison. I went in for a stereotactic biopsy next, then a lumpectomy. Went back for the usual "everything looks good" follow-up with my surgeon, she said they found cancer. But she said they got it all, I wouldn't need chemo or radiation, but to see an oncologist.

First thing the oncologist asked was if we had spoken with the radiation people yet. What?? Um, no. He said there weren't enough clear margins, no one takes out that much, so 5 weeks radiation.

I said chop 'em off. Not doing radiation. Too many biopsies, lots of history on my mother's side, I was done with with it. Not coming back later and sitting across from the oncologist and hearing a completely different story. My surgeon was shocked because "it's only stage 0" buy I didn't budge. The oncologist was supportive - his wife had gone the other route, it came back, and it was hell to fight (but she made it!).

No recon, and no worries. Biopsies never phased me, but it wouldn't have been that way anymore.

By MRI,  grade 0. The MRI was done as a precautionary/prep before surgery which was to be done to remove small cancer in the same breast. The DCIS (5 cm) had not been detectable on either mammogram or ultrasound.

Mine was found by mammogram. I had DCIS and surgery five years ago and it's there in the same place as the original DCIS. The radiologist says it may be residual DCIS, not a new DCIS. Mine is grade 2/3 now. It was grade 1. I didn't feel any lumps, so this was found purely by mammogram. After it was found during my bi-annual mammogram, I had to have biopsies of both breasts. The one breast is ok, thankfully, but the other is not. The radiologist also checked it with ultrasound. I could tell by the look on her face and the tone of her voice that she thought it was DCIS (again).

Just got diagnosed today. I am 49 and the lump is 20 years old, it was originally a cyst that they drained. I have been watching it and testing it for 20 years! I had a clean mammo and US 18 months ago on the left side, and a benign finding (biopsied) on the right side. Stunned that this old thing "turned" into something. I need to get an MRI and remove the lump, it's only 1 cm. Hoping it's just the removal and radiation and that the process won't be too long.

    How was my DCIS found?

About 3 months ago I noticed blood in my right bra cup at the end of a day of playing with my 2 year old grandson. I thought nothing of it until it happened again. Then went straight to my doctor who referred me to a breast center. There I had a mamo (negative) and and ultrasound (negative) and they were ready to send me home with a clean bill of health. I said "so why am I bleeding" and they said "oh yeah, well lets get you back in for a ductogram". A week later, i go back and the radiologist does an ultrasound instead and had to search but found a 2cm lesion. I left that day thinking I had nothing wrong. Fast forward 4 days and I am told that I have DCIS, stage 0, high grade, negative hormone receptors. So I talk to a surgeon who says I am a good candidate for breast sparing lumpectomy but before that an MRI is in order. MRI was done last Monday only to find I have a 6cm x 4 cm lesion. Still DCIS but am no longer a candidate for breast sparing surgery. Mastectomy is my only option due to the size. At this point I don't trust the results of my left breast mamo so am opting for a double mastectomy. Thursday I go to Stanford to see the surgeon and plastic guy and hope to have this crazy ride behind me soon.

I started out in complete denial. This isn't happening to me. Those results must belong to someone else. No more denying it now. My emotions have been all over the place but luckily I have a strong faith that God has a bigger plan in all of this so have surrendered it all to him. It gives me such peace.

    God Bless,

    ~L
