Terrible rash from Arimidex

Hi there everyone,

I have only taken 4 pills of Arimidex but I have gotten a terrible rash with hives on my arms. breasts/chest and behind my ears.. I have taken Benadryl ( only at night because of drowsiness) which has eased the rash considerably.

I will be calling the MO first thing tomorrow morning... Do you think they will switch me to Femara? What if I get a rash from that as well? Is Femara just as good as Arimidex?

I hope that I will be able to tolerate Femara or another AI.... otherwise, what is my choice??

That's a nasty reaction. It may take a while to go away.

Your MO could put you on Femera or Aromasin. Since you may be reacting to a filler and not the drug itself, it might be helpful to determine what these are in the pill you've taken. You might still be able to take Arimidex if you could find a manufacturer not using the chemicalyou reacted to.

I have lots of allergies and had a similar reaction to Neulasta. Hope I never have to have chemo again.

I developed capillaritis on my leg - back calf and upper thigh - while taking Arimidex. My MO switched me to Tamoxifen and I have had fewer problems.

I couldn't take arimidex either - it made my feet so flippin' itchy!! Switched to Femara - no problem!
