Anyone use Berberine supplement?

I was reading about plant sterols to lower cholesterol and came across a different supplement called Berberine. It is used for elevated glucose and cholesterol as well as other indications. In addition, it appears to induce apoptosis in breast cancer.

NEVER MIND - just discovered very negative side effect where this supplement really destroys normal gut flora. This is critical to have a healthy immune system.

Discussed this recently with a Naturopath who specializes in Cancer treatment and he wasn't terribly excited about it. He didn't think it deserved high priority as a supplement for breast cancer patients.

I actually do take berberine as a natural substitute for the drug metformin. I believe it helps control blood sugars which can be beneficial in reducing bc recurrence. This is just my opinion but I have done extensive research. Ive also lost 25 pounds with the combination of eliminating white sugar and this supplement. Good luck to all....
