Hi Ladies

I'm a newbie to this website. Its great to hear so many different experiences from you all of how to manage and cope through this daunting experiences.

My story is like this. I am now 44yrs , two children 17+12. Last year I went for my 1st mamo due to me and my doctor finding a lump 6mm right side breast side wall. It was painfully but apart from no other symptoms. My doctor requested the mamo due to my family history. My mother now aged 62 was diagnose with IBC grade II. She had pain swelling and slight orange peel skin. They nip it in the bud early. My mum is also a stroke patient. BC runs thru both sides of my family. Both grandparent died from it. My results last year came clear. They say its just a cyst but will keep an eye on it by having yearly mammograms.

Roll on 2016 Feb till date. I've noticed by right breast has really swollen. An whole cup size tbh. I have also noticed a lump in the side wall of the right breast along with a burning tingly sensation sometimes a sharp pain. The skin on the right breast looks like goose pimples. It also feels thick skin just on the side wall of the breast. The veins on the right breast is so visible. The other breast is looking normal. Now I have sort of turn a blind eye to these symptoms ( my pain threshold is quite high) in the hope its pre menopausal thou I haven't had a period for years due to the Mireina Coil. Is this normal ?

Four week ago I went for second mammogram. The call back appointment should of been two weeks ago but I never received the letter from the Breast clinic. So I called them to be told it was an administration error a appointment was made two weeks ago of which I have now missed. The clinic said they will do there best to book me in as early as possible as they are busy. Can you believe it !! So If I hadn't called I wouldn't know the wiser. My apt is now booked for this Monday. As for the pain Its on and off but I am now finding I have to take of my bra.

I am now very anxious , worried and very annoyed with the breast clinic team.

I don't know a thing about IBC as I have IDC but just wanted to say hang in there and sorry you are going thru this and hopefully everything is allright. It's a shame we have to constantly be on top of our own Dr.'s and staff as if we don't have enough on our plates. Good luck..

I am sorry you had the mix up with the breast clinic. I am surprised with the family history ghat doctors did not insistt on a mammogram before 44. That being said, I am surprised that the clinic would send a letter about an appointment for possible IBC because of it's aggressive nature; which is a point in your favor. Second, only 5% or less of all bc is IBC. So the odds are in your favor. Third, although some women report pain with bc, they are the in the minority. Most bc patients do not experience breast pain. Finally, there are many other things that can cause your symptoms.

You have many things in your favor right now. Focus on those things ... and your children. There will be plenty of time to worry later if diagnosed with cancer. Don't jump on the cancer train until officially diagnosed. It's a crazy ride all of us here would have loved to miss.

Wishing you calm and inner peace until you get results from your Monday appointment.
