Is Itching a side effect? Can I take Benadryl?

Hi everyone,

I just started on Arimidex and have been experiencing some itching... It is in a strange place, on the palms of my hand and on the fingers.. Seems like an odd place for it. I only started on the medication today but I did notice that within 1 hour of taking it this itching developed. I am thinking that maybe its all in my mind since I know that i started the medication .. However, the itching lasted all day, not too bad but I can certainly tell it is there and I feel the sensation...

Am I crazy?? Could only ONE pill cause a reaction so quickly? Should I wait it out and see if it improves or call the MO and bring it to his attention?

Can I take Benadryl to help calm the itch or is it contraindicated with Arimidex?

I also read that Neurontin ( Gabapentin) is often prescribed for the hot flashes.. Well, I have been on Gabapentin since 2008 because of my fathom leg pain from my amputation... I guess I am ahead of the game in that area..

Yes it is definitely a side effect. I took benadryl at night.
