Pathology report

Well, I got my post-surgical pathology report. I hope it is not as bad as it sounds. They originally thought the tumor was 3 cm, however it turns out it is 5.5 cm. Also, one of the three lymph nodes tested showed "macrometastasis of carcinoma; positive for extracapsular extension". Does this mean that the cancer has spread to the outside of the lymph node? Go to see the oncologist on Thursday so hopefully she can tell me something good (for a change). Keeping my head up and fingers crossed.

Simple13 my tumours also turned out to be quite a bit larger than they appeared on imaging pre surgery. From what I have read this is common with Lobular BC. My cancer was multi focal. I had 4 cancerous tumours. The largest being about 4cm. I also had one positive node but without extra capsular extension. You will feel more at ease once you have met with your Oncologist and decide on further treatment. Try to keep busy doing things you enjoy with those you love. My thoughts are with you. Hugs Donna.
