Hi, I was diagnosed with DCIS 0 last week. I'm 36, there really isn't a history of BC in my family (some doctors include my maternal great aunt, others don't).

I'm meeting with a doctor tomorrow to evaluate my treatment options, etc. A friend sent me a link to this community, and I must say, I've found it quite helpful.

I'm sorry, I feel so awkward as is obvious from this post. It certainly is a new territory of life.

Much love to all.

    pere,

I have not been where you are, but generally it seems, stage 0 ladies have it cut out & radiation.

Your age might cause your Dr. to be more aggressive. As scary as this is, your dx has the best outcome.

There is a DCIS thread here. Join those ladies & good luck.

Hi, Peregrina - Welcome to BCO. I know it's intimidating to jump in but I hope the helpfulness of the site will outweigh any qualms.

The DCIS threads will probably be very, very helpful to you. There are also articles on DCIS in the main body (not the discussion boards) of the site. Some will be older than others, so do check the publication dates.

Good luck with your upcoming appointment - I hope it's helpful and encouraging. I would urge you to record the meeting if you possibly can using a smart phone or other small, hand-held device. It's MUCH more helpful than trying to take notes. And never, ever hesitate to ask for clarification or additional details. There are no stupid questions in dealing with this!
