worried about rib mets but...

I also feel like I might just be going a little nuts! Looking for perspective. I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago with a 6mm IDC, grade 1, oncotype 5. Because my prognosis was so good, I haven't worried all that much since (well, you know--relatively speaking!). I had a lumpectomy and radiation and am on Tamoxifen. My ribs have been hurting for the last few months, though, as have my elbows. The elbows have gotten a bit better but the ribs come and go. I know from xrays that I have mild scoliosis and had some mild degenerative stuff a few years back, so part of me just wants to think that's what this is, that it's just progressing. But I am really in my first panic since finishing treatment. I know I should call my oncologist, but I'm actually too scared. Is there any other reasonable explanation for what I'm feeling?

Thanking you in advance for the good sense I know you'll share.

kika, I know we worry about new aches and pains, My elbow has been hurting too! So badly! In January I had a check up and asked the Onc about my elbow...he said it would be very unusual to have bone mets there, more likely arthritis. As to your rib pain, so many times I read that ladies here have that too. Do not be too scared to talk to your Oncologist, it is so important you keep that communication going. To ease your mind and know for sure, you know you need to check it out., Please don't worry unnecessarily, and let us know what you find out!

Always better to get it checked out. My MO did tell me that bone pain from mets would not come and go. It would come and stay and get progressively worse.

Hi KBee Trouble with mets and doctors is that there is so much variation. Some ladies get mets with no symptoms at all and they are discovered purely by mistake (like a fracture) Docs don't agree on everything either, some say to do TM's others say they are no good and unreliable. I agree with you, any pain or problem which doesn't go away after 2 weeks should be investigated. We have to be the best advocates for ourselves. Good luck to everyone out there. Love Muriel
