I had my BMX on 1/12/16 & am still having cording/ROM issues but they are getting better as I work with therapist & time passes. However, I am overdue for a colonoscopy by about 2 years. I have had some small polyps removed the first 2 times I had this done & know I should get this done particularly as I have hit my deductible. I see my BS & MO end of July. Should I schedule in August for after I see them or ask my internist who I will see next week for 6 month mandatory office visit so she will refill prescriptions? Thanks.

Hang in there. As time passes, you will become more and more comfortable post mastectomy. I applaud you for taking responsibility for your complete health. As a surgical oncologist I know Colon cancer is the second most common cancer in men and women and colonoscopy should not be ignored particularly in people with a history of polyps. I agree colonoscopy is a priority but i urge you to recuperate a bit from your breast surgery so you can proceed comfortably with your bowel prep (ick) and procedure. Can you lie on your side without pain? Talk with your gastroenterologist regarding his recommendations as to timing post operatively. You are OK to proceed with colonoscopy as soon as you are ready - But it is not an emergency. 4 - 6 weeks should be good - sooner if you are feeling well and later if you are not.

Thank you. I can lie on my side although not sure for how long. I was more concerned about having anesthesia in my system again twice in one year even though it's not general. We are going to a new GI so I think I will ask my internist next week. I need to do before end of September when our insurance year ends so maybe I can plan on doing late summer. By then I should be ok (I hope).
