Choosing a surgeon

I am newly diagnosed with DCIS (yesterday) and have narrowed it to two surgeons. One is at a larger cancer center and the other is at a smaller practice. Both perform surgery from the same hospital and are both on the same tumor board here in Spokane, WA.

Any input/advice on larger more clinical practice vs. a smaller more personalized one?

Thank you!

It is always best if you can talk to other patients...perhaps there are some here on BCO.

Thank you. I found a few suggestions and I have chosen my surgeon. It feels good to have that decision made. I asked around and the same.person was recommended by several... Including my PCP.

Now I get to wait to see her until the 22nd.

One of mine concerns is whether or not they are breast surgeons or general surgeons. Obviously I would go with a breast surgeon. They are all trained as general surgeons but then go on to do a specialty. Good luck with your decision....
