I finished chemo yesterday, and I am hoping to have BMX with gummy bear implants and hysterectomy in 4-6 weeks. PS said I candidate for straight to implants, but he will also come prepared with TEs. Anyone have successful all in one surgery? Any information on the surgery itself and recovery

I don't have gummies (they were not approved at the time), but did have successful one step implants. My ps also brought TE's into the OR in case he didn't like the results of the one steps. I didn't have a great deal of pain and followed all post op instructions to a T. The Alloderm slings were very tight at the beginning, but not painful. I needed no further revisions and they pretty much look like my natural breasts, which i quite liked. Good luck to you!

What type of hysterectomy are you having? Robotic? Vaginal or abdominal? Which type will make a big difference with your recovery. Having it done at the same time as BMX and recon,,, well,, it's a lot of surgery. A friend of mine was going to do all of that at one time, and then opted to wait for the hysterectomy in a couple of months.

I had a friend who wanted to do this in the same order - chemo, then recon surgery (she already had the BMX/TE surgery between having AC, then T chemo) and a hyst/ooph because she is BRCA1+ but her PS was unwilling to coordinate with the gyn surgeon and didn't want her under anesthetic for that long. She ended up doing the recon surgery first, then the hyst/ooph a couple of months later. She did very well with both surgeries. Have you asked your respective surgeons if they are willing to work together on this?

I should have added that having both surgeries at once would have been a bit too much for me.

Thanks for all of the feedback. I believe the hysterectomy is robotic, but I can't remember. All of the surgeons work together as a team. Theoretically, they are open to doing everything at once, but that was all prior to chemo. Now it is getting closer to time, and they are all discussing a little more in depth. I don't want to do anything too risky, but I want to be done.

Hysterectomyrecovery is hard enough with use of your arms. I cannot imagine trying to recover from one without a BMX. If you can, I would think you would be better off with one surgery at a time. Especially since you never know when you will have complications.
