Post Breast Cancer Patient using Estrace Vaginal Cream
I am an 8 year Breast Cancer Survivor. I was diagnosed with DCIS (Estrogen +) in my Right Breast Jan, 2008. I had a lumpectomy followed with 6 weeks of radiation and 5 years of Tamoxifen. My husband and I have been married 23 years and still enjoy having sex. During this past year I started having severe pain during intercourse. My husband and I are seeing a Therapist and she recommended to see a Gynecological doctor. I wrote a message to my primary doctor letting her i wanted to see a specialist. I saw a great female doctor and told her what has been going on. After conversation and an exam, she recommended using Estrace Vaginal Cream. She knew I had history of Breast Cancer. It's all about quality of life. I had an appointment with my Primary Doctor and we talked extensively about everything. So I began with 1 week for 4 days every other day 2GM. After that use 1GM twice a week. It's only been a few weeks. I've noticed a little bit of a difference. Not feeling so dry but still have some pain during sex. Not as bad. Maybe it takes a while. My husband said we need to try and continue having intercourse regular, every week, every other week maybe. I was 58 when diagnosed and now I'm 66 years. I'm certainly not ready to give up sex all together and I know my husband isn't. I'm a little scared about going down this path. I hope I haven't made a bad decision.
I hope i will hear from other women out there with similar situations and their thoughts and feelings around this very delicate subject.
Thank you.

I have experience with Estrace but after my oopherectomy not after my breast cancer Dx. It took a few weeks before the pain went away because the atrophy was so bad. It actually burned at first because I was so dry. Hang in there and I hope things continue to improve.

I use Vagifem, which has a similar effect. I am also making sure that I moisturize with coconut oil/Replens in between to keep things juicy.
The thing about the private parts is "use it or lose it". The more you can have sex, the better everything will work

I'm having success with replens and a new lube from astrologer called "diamond". The lube is great, highly recommend it. I hope things get better for you.
