Hi, my neighbor is starting chemo tomorrow. I can't go with her this week, but what can I bring over to her tonight that will help her get through her first time? Lots of chocolate, magazines, earphones? I have no clue! Thanks

just knowing that you care enough to try will mean the world to her. The items you mentioned are great! Also:

Ginger tea in case she gets tummy upset

Coconut oil in a jar was the #1 go to remedy for a variety of ills in my chemo sisters group

    A quilt or blanket

A big bag to carry it all in

    A coloring book with crayons

A regular notebook to make notes or journal her feelings

    A pair of fun earnings

There are lots of things. Just tell her you want to help and as time goes on for her to tell you how you can help. Would making a meal and bringing it over be helpful? It all depends on her situation, but just being there is great. Don't tell her to stay positive, or you know how she feels. If you aren't sure what to say, just tell her that. But that you are there for her, whatever she needs.

Good for you for being such a thoughtful, loving friend!

aokcrl: how did your friend do with her first week of chemo? Now that she has a week done, she may be needing some things that weren't obvious to her at first. Maybe you could do some shopping for her, or take her shopping if she's up for it. You're such a good friend and I'm glad she has you for support.
