Anyone test positive for chek2 gene mutation? My mom died at 49 from breast cancer and I tested positive for this gene. Seems my colon cancer risk is higher from this. Would like anyone's thoughts as of what they did for preventative care

I tested positive for chek2 a year ago. I got tested because my mother was tested last year and has it as well. We are both negative for BRCA1/2. My mother has had breast cancer 3 times (3 separate cancers) and there is other breast cancer in her side of the family.

Since I was tested, I was told to get both a mammogram and an MRI annually. So I am alternating each every 6 months. They did recommend that I have a colonoscopy sooner than later but I haven't done that yet. I am 44.

Good luck and hope that helps!

I tested positive for Chek2. My sister had BC in her 20's. When I got BC last year my other sister had genetic testing and so did I. We both tested positive for Chek2 del1100c Moderate risk for BC but my chances of having a new cancer because I already had BC are up to 30%. I had a clean colonoscopy 3 years ago.

I tested positive for Chek 2 1100 delc.  My sister also tested positive.  She just finished active treatment for breast cancer.  Our 80 year old mom was diagnosed two years ago, but she was negative.  It came from my dad's side of family which was full of cancer.  My sister and I were the first breast cancers.  I am meeting with my genetic counselor in April.

I tested positive earlier this year. My mother had melanoma twice which is associated with the mutation. She's adopted and there's no cancer on my dads side so we are assuming it's from her side. I'm almost 50 anyway, but getting colonoscopy a few months early. I will eventually get my kids tested, I have four boys and prostate and Colon cancer are concerns if they inherited this

My sister and I both are Chek2 positive but negative on both BrCa. Our Mom was diagnosed at 34 with BC and passed shortly after. We are staying on top of mammograms and breast Mri... But I feel overwhelmed. Should I be as worried as I am? Have an amazing breast specialist who I will be sitting down with in August to set up my plan. Just freaking out... This past summer my sister had stage 1 Melenoma at 26! What are some resources to look inito on learning more? Should I be worried
