Bra suggestions please

Hi Everyone,

Hope this finds you all well.... I had my surgery on Tuesday ( lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy and oncoplastic reduction and lift) I must say that I ma feeling very well... However, I am so itchy.... It is driving me crazy... Doctor said I can't put anything on it until I see him next week.... I hope I don't go insane before that.

I think the most uncomfortable part of this recovery is the surgical/sports bra that I need to wear.. The one they put on at the hospital was not the correct size so I purchased 2 different ones from my plastic surgeons office.. They are better but still not comfortable by any stretch of the imagination... Does anyone have suggestions as to wear to purchase a relatively comfortable bra.. Since it has to been worn virtually 23 hours a day for 6 weeks I need something comfortable.

Sorry, I'm still looking for a truly comfortable bra nearly a year after surgery! The Amoena cami/bra is the most comfortable and the most unobtrusive of those I've tried but I don't think I'd want to sleep in it.

For me, the biggest issue is avoiding the area sound the node biopsy incision. It's hard to find something that doesn't rub there.

I will be interested to see what other recommendations may surface.

After going through many bras I bought this and am thrilled. Very comfy and front zipper! I can never do the clasps, even the front ones, so this was heaven. I bit pricey but the quality is great.

I had luck with the front-closing Leading Lady leisure/sleep bras I got from herroom.com--stretchy, variety of colors, and they come in three cup sizes (largest being F/G//H). There's a slightly sturdier so-called nursing bra (but no quick release or fold-down cups) by the same company--it goes up to E/F/G. My surgeon put me in a Royce surgical bra in size XL--several Xes too small for poor Thelma & Louise. I couldn't find Genies or Coobies with big enough cups. I still use my leisure bras for sleep

For the immediate post-surgical period, I was very happy in a breast binder, instead of a bra. Just another approach.

I loved the breast binder after surgery, but now I am in love with this Bali bra I found at Target for $21. It has no under wires, and it is stretchy at the sides so it doesn't rub my sentinel node site. Yes, 14 months later things can still aggravate that area. Somebody else has mentioned the Genie bra, but I haven't tried that one

I found Hanes G265 to be the most comfortable bra-I'm plenty pissed that they quit making them! But you might still be able to find online. Also Hanes style G506 is a close second. Hanes bras are very inexpensive and easy to find. Several other styles of Hanes bras have worked well for me since surgery. I used to always wear underwire bras, but can't stand them now and find those without structured cups work best these days due to the slight difference in the size of each breast-easier to fit properly.

I find the Bali comfort Revolution wirefree shaping bra to be the most comfortable. I had a hard time finding one that was wide enough from outside edge of cup going underarm because that is where my LX scar is and everything I tried would either sit just below scar or right on it. I tried to show the area that this bra is generous in that could be helpful for sentinel node scars. It also has a back closure so no pulling over head! It comes with either slight shaping foam cups or plain but I'm a slight difference in size after diep so this evens things out for me. It is very soft and comfortable and has worn quite well with machine wash on gentle but hang to dry

Love the Bali bra pictured in the previous post. I own it in quite a few colors and find it amazingly comfortable

I wore the genie bra for a long time after surgery.... I loved that I could step into it and pull it up. I did not use the inserts that came with it.

yep, I agree the Bali bra is great. I have several in different colorsthat I bought from Kohls.

I like the Genie Bras. I have worn them since my initial surgery. They are comfortable and give just the right amount of support for me. I am still wearing the same ones post exchange surgery.

FWIW. - I noticed that Macy's and macy.com have several of the Bali Comfort Revolution styles on sale this week for what seems like a great price.

I also recommend the above Bali bra (3488). I even sleep in it and it really helps to keep me comfortable all day long. I bought 4 colors at Kohls when they were on sale.

The Bali bra posted looks a lot like my favorite Hanes bra that they quit making. Wide straps, unformed cups, generous enough that it doesn't rub on any scar tissue-things I now look for in a bra.
