An interesting and helpful paper from 2014. I am recently diagnosed with LCIS and have my MRI scheduled for Monday. Given the thickening feeling I have noticed in my left breast, I suspect more will be discovered by MRI. I found the paper very helpful.

Evolving concepts in breast lobular neoplasia and invasive lobular carcinoma, and their impact on imaging methods

thanks for sharing this article. It definitely supports my decision to keep having yearly MRIs. (I was diagnosed with LCIS over 12 years ago and my risk is further elevated by family history (mom had ILC). I initially had a lumpectomy, took tamoxifen for 5 years, and now continue to take evista for further preventative measures.

    Hello,

This is my first post so I am probably doing this all wrong!

I was diagnosed with DCIS three days before Christmas 2015 I had an operation on the 4th January, there was not clear margins so had a second on the 25th January. The second had clear margins but the consultant said they had also found a LCIS he said it was nothing to worry about and that it was not a cancer as such. I have been trying to find out what the possible implications of having LCIS are, what the risks of it leading to an invasive cancer and when.

I would really be grateful for anyones help.

    Thank you x

The DCIS "trumps" the LCIS, so that is what you'll be treated for. It isn't unusual to find an "alphabet soup" of different breast stuff in an area of concern. Your DCIS was more of a risk to develop invasive cancer. The LCIS may raise your risk of developing cancer in the other breast though.

I would want a better explanation or second opinion on how it affects your risk of recurrence or a new cancer
