No hot flashes after oophorectomy? What the...

OK so I had hot flashes before... I've been on zoladex and femara so had hot flashes... Then we took my ovaries out 2 days ago. So far, no hot flashes. Anyone else experience this? I was worried my hot flashes would be worse after taking my ovaries out. I'm guessing this is temporary but wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Hi Laurie09, I had my ovaries removed in Oct 2014. For me, the night sweats started around day 4 after the ooph, and the hot flashes started ramping shortly thereafter. It took about 6 months for the night sweats and hot flashes to ease off, and now I'm back to around where I was before the ooph.

Mine went away for a while after having ovaries removed. At least six weeks because I remember telling them that at my check-up.

But they came back - just as bad as ever!!! (sorry!)

Mine were worse a couple of weeks after. Enough that I noticed and said something to the surgeon at the follow-up visit. Then they subsided to "usual".

Could be that your body is recovering from the surgery and putting it's energy into something besides hot flashes. Or it could be that removing the ovaries stopped your hot flashes. Everyone is different. I'd thank my lucky stars, but I doubt this [absence] will last long.

I sort of assumed it would be temporary, which is what it sounds like. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
