Who has had flap surgery in the Chicago area - looking for good micro vascular surgeons

I didn't ultimately have my surgery in Chicago but I saw 1 PS and had an appointment I cancelled with a second. So I will tell you what I experienced and why I went to NOLA to maybe save you some legwork.

1) Met with Dr. Fenner in Kenilworth. He came highly recommended but I was warned he was kind of weird. He is just kind of reserved and when he looked at me, he said he could only make me an A cup because of my size and available tissue. Or, he could do one side and make it the full B cup I wanted. He did not make me feel confident, although he might have been a great surgeon.

2) I had an appointment with Neil Fine which I cancelled after having a 20 minute conversation with his PA. I was doing research on this board into what questions to ask and I asked what his conversation rate was. At the time, I didn't even know what that meant. She explained that it meant what percentage of the time they go from DIEP to TRAM in the OR. It was 85%. That means they cut muscle, which you do not want because it can mean lifelong debilitating pain as you can by reading on this board. The reason they do it is because they don't do any type of scanning beforehand to find blood vessels so they often have to take muscle in the OR to get the vessels.

That's when I decided to go to NOLA. I spent a lot of time arguing with my doctors here trying to explain why I was going there but it was the best decision I ever made. You don't want amateurs doing this surgery on you. NOLA fixes what the other doctors botch. Not saying you should go there. Just wanted to make you aware of it.

I used PS at Northwestern in chicago doctor, Dr Alghoul. He is an experienced micro surgeon and recommended by my BS. His work is beautiful. I waited7 years to make my decision and after tons of research I am very happy with results.
