Breast MRI showed LIVER lesion

Options

Cross posted here too in case this is the better place.

I am very very worried for my mom. She has been cancer free for 2.5 years and a routine breast MRI results came back today. The radiology report says there is a "subtle focus of slightly increased T2 weighted signal within the caudate lobe of the liver with a diameter of 3.6 cm."

She is going for a liver MRI tomorrow. I feel like my worst nightmare is coming true and am flipping out.

What are we looking for the results from tomorrow's liver MRI to say or not say? How do you diagnose mets to the liver? How can you RULE OUT lets to the liver.

She is only 51.

Thank you in advance for any help.

if the MRI of the liver is suspicious, she may need a biopsy to see what it is. Waiting is the worst. If you can hang out with her and do something to distract her, it may help

    hello,

I'm going through the exact same thing. She was cancer free for 2 years. They did a ct scan in December 2015 show nodules on the left lung. They said they were not worried but would do it again in three months. In March shows three lesions in liver, 1.4 cm, 1.0cm and 8mm possible 6mm close to gallbladder. The onc seemed so calm, (I guess they need to be) she only recommend hormonal therapy, chemo or do nothing. She said there is no need to biopsy. I haven't been able to sleep in weeks since all this.

She is so calm. I see her deteriorating so fast. She has arthritis which makes it hard. They keep saying is arthritis but I don't know... The lungs, she said is not cancer or atleast she is not convinced , yet there were more and now I'm right lung.

    So frustrating.

Sometimes things that look like lesions, aren't. A second CT scan and closer look will help

they called them heptatic lesions... She said she didn't want to do biopsy, she would treat it as mets. Is this the norm

Our bodies all come with imperfections and I think this is why some doctors believe in less monitoring....the incidental findings that end up being nothing are SO common but can cause so much stress.

I hope it is just that....a b-9, incidental finding that is not worrisome!

nothing like getting chemo when they don't know if you need it. They aren't going to biopsy or do another scan. It could be bubbles. Why not a second opinion

    coni & Alisha

I just went through this. I have a very painful, enlarged liver. Ultrasound, CT Scan, liver biopsy & a treatment plan. I had a infusion of Taxatere 8 days ago. The MO wanted the liver biopsy to make sure the Cancer had not changed, receptors(?). I do not know which plan is the most common. They seemed to know after the ultrasound, but still followed through with the CT scan & biopsy.

The chemo is a nasty this time as it was 2 1/2 years ago. No crystal ball out there, but my fear is being sick all the time
