2 palpable lumps absent on us...next mri

Options

Hello, just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has insight. Found a new lump beneath mastectomy scar a few weeks ago. On closer inspection, 2 lumps. One near scar has occasional shooting pains which led me to find original bc lump. 3 long weeks to see doc today. Doc finds lumps right away. ..measures 1 cm. Mammogram shows clusters of chunky calcification for one. ..nothing for other. Ultrasound shows nothing. ..no lumps any where. Just skin, fatty tissue, muscle. No fat necrosis (which always showed in past 2 benign lumps). Doc sending for MRI on Thursday...something about checking for uptake. I was hoping to have answers today. ..anxiety so crazy with this. Anyone find bc on MRI when ultrasound did not pick up? Thanks in advance for any replies.

My doc said ultrasound is highly dependent on the person doing he test as well as the person reading it. MRI is more accurate. I hope the MRI brings good news, but if the lump is palpable, even is it is not visible on ultrasound, they should be able to do a fine needle aspiration to biopsy it and give definitive answers as to what's there.

KBee-Thank you so much. I feel better knowing MRI is more accurate. I read your story. ..you have been through a lot. I was actually telling my husband about your story on way to Dr. Appt. this morning. As you can see, i have been lurking around the boards for afew weeks. We have a lot in common-diagnosis a few months apart among other things. I love that you were such a strong advocate for yourself and offer support to so many on these boards. I was 43 and begged my doc for chemo...adopted, so no family history...unable to take tamoxifen due to blood clot issues...he originally agreed, but changed his mind after oncotype came back in the teens. BC is a frustrating disease. ..the anxiety even in remission is intense. I am thankful to you and the other regulars who provide support, information and resources to all of the people here. The truth is, NOBODY can understand the burdens, joys and frustrations of this disease like someone who has actually been there!

Until you've been there, you cannot totally understand the fear and uncertainty involved...and all of the emotions that come out as soon as you palpate a lump. I am glad they're following yours with an MRI. Hoping you get the all clear, but that you also get definitive answers. Keep us posted!
