Hello ladies

My fear for my mom is making me lose my breath so I can't imagine what you all are going through. I know this would be a good place to share my fears and get some reassurance

My mom is my world. When I heard her mammo came back suspicious a month and a half ago, my world became stuck, which is hard because I have to keep functioning for my family of 4 kids and husband.

What sent my mom for an Mammo was not routine cause she is not one that goes for regular mammos due to fear. She had some numbness in her arm, and decided to go. Her mammo had a birad 4 and then biopsy was scheduled. My moms biopsy came back as Dcis, she then had an mri that thankfully showed no additional suspicious activity in either breast, and now surgery is scheduled for end of the month. but I'm still so scared. She's so scared. We have the worst fears that it's in her brain or has spread to different parts of her body. Are these thoughts normal? What are the chances that after surgery they come back and say, nope the pathology report came back with Dcis AND late stage cancer? My breath completely stops at the thought of this.

we should feel blessed and appreciative that it's Dcis As of now and not anything more right off the bat. But the surgeon says she's still going to take a lymph node at surgery just incase pathology comes back as invasive, then they can test the lymph node right then instead of bringing her back in. What does this mean ?

Has anyone been diagnosed with Dcis after biopsy and then had a later stage after surgery pathology? I appreciate any response. Wishing you ladies a full, long, healthy life. Gd bless you all and may he give us all stregnth to get through this.

Hi. I know what you are going through. My needle biopsy came back adh with a tiny area that was borderline dcis. My mri came back clear. I worried too before Lumpectomy which I had on feb. 29. Thankfully it came back the same.,nothing invasive. Most likely your mom's will too. Positive thoughts sent your way!

    Maital-

We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We know this is a difficult time, and hope you find the support you need as you help your mom through this.

The thoughts and fears you have are completely normal. Once your mom's surgery is done, and her pathology is complete, you'll feel like you have a better grasp on things and can focus on her treatment. The fact that the MRI was clear is a good sign! You can read more about DCIS and staging on our main site, here and here. We hope that her surgery goes well, and that the pathology comes back as expected, so that she can focus on treatment.

    Please keep us posted!
