Hi, a little bit about me.... I am 17 and leaving for college soon to be a doctor of some sort not sure yet! Anyways last week my mom was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in SITU it was stage 0 cancer but the type of cancer was stage 3. I am looking for some tips and tricks that I can do to help out with her as much as I can. Her surgery date hasn't been decided yet but she is going to do a double mastectomy because of all of her previous breast problems and doesn't want to deal with the not knowing anymore. She will do implants but they are unable to save her nipple. I have been to all of her appointments with her and I just want to help her and be there for her as much as I can without makings we uncomfortable by going over board. Please please please help me out! All tips, comments, tricks, tools, advice, ECT. Are welcome! It's all welcome!!

What a wonderful daughter you are to your mum. I would say that just being there for her and showing how much you care is wonderful. Are there other family members and friends who can also help out? She will be out of action for a while after surgery and will need help from others. This is a lot for you to handle at your age.

My dad is but he is very like queasy when it comes to anything medical and he runs his own business so he is very busy! My mom is the kind of person to never ask for help which is so frustrating! and i have a 13 year old sister but she is pretending that this just isn't even happening. So basically I'm the only one that lives with her that can help. She has so many wonderful friends that are super willing to help! I am fine with everything medical wise it the cooking part that will be a struggle for us because she is on Weight Watchers which will make it hard to make the perfect meal for her and her Italian tastebuds certainly don't help! IM going to start gathering supplies and i am curious as to some really helpful ones!

It would be great if your Dad could get over his queasiness and realise that your Mom needs his support. Also maybe could you ask her friends to make some meals for your family for when she's recovering. They would probably be more than happy to do this. Weight Watchers will have a good website with recipes I'm sure. Pasta and pizza and other Italian food are fairly easy to make. I hope you can reach out to other family friends and relatives for more support.
