2 years after lumpectomy now having mastectomy with diep in june

Hi ladies after much thought I have decided to have mastectomy. I want to talk with some of you who like me after your treatment was finished decided to go back after some time to have masectomy

    Hello Jen1....you'll see in my signature that I had a similar diagnosis and treatment plan and I did decide to do a BMX after chemo finished. My original IDC was missed in mammograms for about 5 years (radiologist's estimate) even though i had annual mamms and ultrasounds. It had already spread to 3 axillary nodes - I found the lump just a month after my last "normal" mammogram - I had very dense breasts and cysts in both breasts so mammograms did nothing to identify the IDC. If I had just lumpectomy then I would be relying on mammograms to find a recurrence - I already knew that was't going to work so I decided to do the BMX. I was relieved that no additional breast cancer was found in either breast:) Good luck with your decision (((Hugs))) Maureen
