trying to decide whether to have Lumpectamy or Massectamy? whats the chance of recurrence for both?

    Speaking towards risk of dying from BC vs risk of local recurrence, a recent study shows a better survival rate for lumpectomy vs mastectomy:

    I wonder why. But I can assume that maybe it is something I have seen in my BC group. I had a lumpectomy, Rads and Chemo. I was stage 1 no lymph involvement. The lady I sit next to at group Stage 1 no lymph, had a mastectomy no rads no chemo is now metastatic. She thought by having a mastectomy she was doing more to get rid of cancer. I on the other had opted for the lesser surgery and more treatment. I wonder if women getting mastectomies for early stage breast cancer have a sense of security and are forgoing the Chemo and would not get the RADS. Would be interesting to see what other treatment each group received in addition to surgery.
