On a MUCH happier note (for those to read my other post)...

My friend Heather, who I have known for more than 10 years, did something really sweet.  We were fairly close at one time but are currently stationed at two separate bases and although we check in with each other every month or so through texting, that is the extent of our staying in touch. Her husband and my husband are friends (actually how I met her) and although I didn't tell her what I was going through, my husband passed the word on to her husband who then passed the word on to her. I received this from her today along with a very sweet letter.  For those who read my other post, this could not have come at a better time. It made my heart smile and it helped me realize that although maintaining  friendships being a military family can be hard when there is distance, that doesn't mean they have stopped caring .  It was the sweetest gesture and lifted me up more than I can tell you!!

I'm glad to know that your friend got the word about your situation and responded so thoughtfully and quickly. Her timing couldn't have been better. I hope it buoys you through this rough patch and that the necklace will be an ever-present reminder of her care and friendship despite the miles between you.

Thanks for sharing this uplifting news.

That is so sweet. When the universe wants to send a message, it gets through some way.

So wonderful! There may be more friends that want to support you. Don't be afraid to reach out. My best friend of 20 years didn't do more than stop by a couple of times after I was diagnosed because she didn't know what to say or do (ummm, ask?). But other friends that I didn't know nearly as well sprang into action and have since become very dear friends. And the old dear friend is still just that. I'm thankful to have learned so much from my new friends about being a friend. :)
