Emergen-C question??

I am having surgery lumpectomy On March 4, so afraid of getting sick can I take Emeren-C 1.000 mg vitamin C drink mix days before surgery is nasal spray allowed thank you its Sat and the Dr not in thank you in advance

Rosie, you can take almost anything except blood thinners before surgery. You certainly deserve to feel as good as you can going in.

Nope. You would know if you were taking a blood thinner, as it's pretty serious.

My pre-surgical instructions were to stop all aspirin, nsaids (ibuprofen), and supplements for a week prior to surgery and for a week after.  This has been consistent for all breast cancer surgeries I have had - even with different surgeons.  Since Emergen-C is vitamin C that would qualify as a supplement, but if your surgeon has not asked you to stop these type of meds I assume it would be ok.  This seems to be a physician preference thing.  I guess you could take it over the weekend and then double check on Monday with your own doc.
