Blood clot possible?

Good evening,

Hoping anyone can be of some assistance. My mom went for a double mastectomy followed by immediate reconstruction in late December. She has developed swelling on the sides of both newly reconstructed breasts, but one is much more swollen than the other and it's very red, swollen, and it hurts. Mom has an appointment with her plastic surgeon this Wednesday but her doctor will not perform the pending surgery to remove the extra skin until one monthafter chemo is over (which she is starting in the next two week..regimen of Taxol for several sessions once per week. I'm concerned about blood clot. Does this sound more like a regular side effect following surgery or is a clot possible? Mom send the images. The first is the less swollen and less painful breast and the other is the painful one. Thanks. Dont mean to be graphic.
